J&N Is Now A Federal Firearms License Dealer

Saturday, October 1st, 2016

federal firearms licenseJ&N Feed and Seed now holds a Federal Firearms License (FFL). As a FFL Dealer, we can sell firearms and facilitate FFL to FFL transfer process. FFL to FFL transfers involves the shipping of a gun between two gun dealers that both have a Federal Firearms License. If you’re looking to order a rifle, shotgun or handgun on-line from an FFL dealer, we can help you complete the process.   Give us a call or stop by J&N Feed and Seed in Graham, Texas and talk to us about your firearm needs.

The Federal Firearms License was established to implement the Federal Firearms Act of 1938. The FFA required all manufacturers and dealers of firearms who ship or receive firearms or ammunition in interstate or foreign commerce to have a license, and forbade them from transferring any firearm or most ammunition to any person interstate unless certain conditions were met. As a practical matter, this did not affect the interstate commerce in firearms or ammunition. It was with the adoption of the Gun Control Act in 1968, which repealed most of the FFA, that the lawful interstate trade of firearms was limited almost entirely to persons holding a Federal Firearms License in the United States..

Get Ready for An Outstanding Dove Season

Monday, August 22nd, 2016

Dove SeasonLast year Texas dove season was good, but the forecast for the upcoming dove season is outstanding. In fact, dove populations are so healthy, the season has been extended to 90 days for the first time in 80 years. This makes it the longest dove season in the country – another reason why the hunting is best in Texas.

Opening day is September 1 in the North and Central Zones, September 23 in the South Zone and the daily bag limit is 15. Check your Outdoor Annual for more details. It’s also a good idea to refer to the dove identifier so you’ll know which birds to avoid. Be sure to have a Migratory Game Bird endorsement and HIP certification if you plan to hunt dove.

If you need a new spot to hunt, check out Walk-in Hunts, the Public Hunting Program that gives you access to over 1 million acres across the state, including areas for dove hunting. Wherever you go on opening day, good hunting!

Daylight Savings Time March 13th

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2016

daylight savings timeIt’s time to “spring forward” for Daylight Savings Time and gain an extra hour of sunlight. It also means you’ll lose an hour of sleep!

Daylight Savings Time begins on Sunday, March 13, 2016. Remember to set your clocks forward 1 hour before you head to bed on Saturday, March 12.

Springing forward and falling back may seem simple enough, but daylight saving’s history has actually been quite complex—and misconceptions about it persist today. As you prepare to reset your watches, alarms and microwaves, explore eight facts about daylight saving time that might surprise you.

8 Things You May Not Know About Daylight Saving Time

1. It’s “daylight saving time,” not “daylight savings time.”

2. Though in favor of maximizing daylight waking hours, Benjamin Franklin did not originate the idea of moving clocks forward.

3. Englishman William Willett led the first campaign to implement daylight saving time.

4. Germany was the first country to enact daylight saving time.

5. Daylight saving time in the United States was not intended to benefit farmers, as many people think.

6. For decades, daylight saving in the United States was a confounding patchwork of local practices.

7. Not everyone in the United States springs forward and falls back.

8. Evidence does not conclusively point to energy conservation as a result of daylight saving.
